Back to work :( .....
Had to be woken up to the alarm this morning, so sad that the holidays are now over. Normally, I am itching to get back to work, get back to routine but this year somehow is different. I had such a lovely time off with the family, I am challenging myself and enjoying it and I don't want it to end!
Back to the mental mornings of rushing around, trying to get the kids out of bed, get breakfasts sorted, clothes out, helping Pickle get dressed (although all she wanted to do was watch Thundercats), drag everyone out to the car and go, go, go...
The mood at work was expected, most didn't want to be there, everyone was talking of their holidays, New Years resolutions, etc...
Did get out for a walk at lunchtime with Claire, fellow friend and colleague. She is on a mission too this year, so we are motivating each other. Although our lunch walk was planned, I was a bit on a nugget and forgot my trainers (which are still a lovely shade of mud, with an additional protective coating of mud on)! Claire was a good girl and came prepared; having only 30 minutes for lunch we had to get in what we could.
So, only 1.53 miles put on the clock today in my heels (will regret that later); that leaves 1974.07 miles to go... need to up my game tomorrow!
I know the miles are still coming off the clock, but I want them off it quicker!

And we are a go-go.....
Last night was fab; drinks, dancing and catching up with some of my best girls! Added bonus was I didn't drink so no hangover this morning!
Did feel slightly 'past it' though whilst bopping away in the club, didn't have a clue what the music was, half the lasses were dressed in next to nothing, with fake hair, eyelashes and tans; the lads were all dressed like Olly Murs or in suits thinking they were the pimp daddy! Even when we went to the kebab shop for some 'sobering up' food, the rest of the crowd that were there were in the more mature age bracket!
It was a great night though and was lovely to catch up with the girls!
Today was Charity Event # 1! The 14th Annual Round Louth 14 mile walk in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. I was lucky enough to be joined by my amazing 13yr old son. The sun was shining, it was looking to be a beautiful day....
The route took us across every so muddy fields, along roads, over hills, across a golf course and through farm estates. 'Squaddy' is the new word of the day after all the mud we trod through, imagine Glastonbury, then times it by 5! We nearly lost the trainers a couple of times, and I think Weez added a few inches to his height due to all of the mud that had collated under his feet!
We managed to get lost a few times due to the signposts being only small enough for the borrowers to read, so a few diverted routes across the muddiest fields you have ever seen! A big thanks to the owners of Brackenborough Hall though, they laid on teas, coffees, biscuits and use of toilet facilities for all participants, plus had all of us traipsing through their land. Lovely couple :)
So the 14 miler was completed as a 15.03 miler, I couldn't be more proud of my boy, he kept up, moaned only a little and made me laugh loads during the walk. But above all he pushed himself and kept going. I am one proud mumma!!
This evening we are resting and celebrating a good day. Back to work tomorrow :'(
This year so far has been frickin awesome, I hope it stays that way!
37.40 miles completed this year, which means at the end of week 1 we only have 1975.6 miles to go for 2013!
Rest well peeps!

Rest and Play Day.....
No miles for today! When doing these sorts of challenges, the aim is to get the miles in but also remember to take care of the driving force behind it (my body), was feeling a bit 'worked' so having a rest day today.
I say rest day, but as a mother of a 13 year old and a 3 year old there is no such thing really as a proper rest day; blitzed the house from top to bottom, sorted out daughter's room which honest to god looked like a bomb had gone off in it - seriously how many dolls does a 3 year old need!!
Decided to have a change of hair colour today, its a New Year so fancied a new look; the packet said it was meant to be 'warm blonde' but it definitely looks more brunette!
Tonight is a night out with some of my favourite girls; as I said before one of my bezzy mates is back visiting from Oz, so a night in town, drinking cocktails (or mocktails in my case) and laying down some funky shapes on the dance floor is on the cards.
I'm being a good girl and sticking to my Dry-athlon, so just call me the designated driver for the evening :) plus with tomorrows 1st event of the year, I don't think I could manage a 14 miler with a hangover! Is it me, or when you get over 30, the hangovers seem to last for days...!
Well, I best be off! Ciao for now peeps

Appetite of an Ox.....
How hungry is all this walking making me??? Got up feeling starvin marvin! Porridge, toast and a green tea to start the day. Due to my Dry-athlon, no PG tips are allowed but I could so murder a nice hot brew of pyramid goodness!!
Had a lovely evening catching up with my girlies, the bezzie from Oz gave us all some shocking news (in a good way) that she got wed whilst over there, so happy for them both! :)
First half of today, I have 'pottered' about, popped over to a friends and had a much needed hair cut, then had a wander over to my sister's local public house for a spot of lunch. Met up with an old friend who I haven't seen in quite a while so sat with him and his family and enjoyed a nice homemade chilli and chips made by my dear sis!
Really didn't fancy getting some miles on the clock today, felt a bit lethargic, achy from pushing Pickle in her buggy yesterday and generally 'blah'!
But there is no room in this year for 'blah' so I had a swift talking to myself in the mirror, got the trainers on, put a bit of Jon Bon Jovi on the iPod (It's my life...) and got out there....
It was a bit surreal, we are at the start of January but the sun was shining, weather quite mild and the birds were chirping; almost seemed like Spring was in the air!
Gave meself a pat on the back when I got home; 4.76 miles added to the pot... that makes the total on day 4 as 22.32 miles.. not bad going if I do say so myself!
So glad its Friday, but also very sad as it means I'm back to work on Monday :( normally Friday would be indulgent evening of a pint of shandy but alas not this month... so a pint of milk it is then :)
TFi Friday peeps, have a good one!

Achy, Sore and Tired.....
Woke up this morning feeling very tired and stiff as a board, walking distances everyday is taking its toll slightly, that plus no cups of tea (I am soo craving a hot brew) is getting me down. Who would have thought, a little pyramid bag would be soo desirable!
Pickle decided she didn't want to go to nursery today, but venture out with Mummy for a walk. So, off we headed over to Woodhall Spa to have a walk down the Viking Way towards Horncastle.
It was a slow walk as Pickle's patience is on a very short leash, so we had to keep stopping and starting, she would get out of her buggy and walk for a bit singing 'Santa Baby' as she went. Bit of a boring route really, just straight up a straight path, turn around and back again!
Still, 5.08 miles done today, which means so far this week I have managed 17.56 miles. This 2013 mile challenge is definitely going to be a long one. I have managed to sign myself up for a local 14 miler this Sunday on behalf of Macmillan, should be a good one providing the weather stays dry (hope I haven't just jinxed myself)!
This evening I am off out for a long overdue catch up with some of my lovely ladies, including one of my bezzies who has come back from Oz for a few weeks. It's been over a year now since I took her to Birmingham Airport ready for her move to Oz, soo excited to see her!!
Well, have a good one peeps :)

Back to reality...
Its that official 'back to work' day for most today, hubby was up at early doors, daughter was back to nursery today. Felt very strange getting up to an alarm!
Today, me and my son were on a mission.... the boy had Christmas money to spend and had set his heart on a 'onesie'! Off to Lincoln we went... I decided to clock my mileage, 2013 is alot to walk, so every bit of distance I do, I'm jotting them miles down!
It was wet and cold, we searched every shop open, the 'onesie' seemed to be sold out everywhere... well, unless he considered purchasing one which was fluffy, pink and had pictures of 'Hello Kitty' on! He wasn't having that! Finally after alot of searching, we finally found one (bit overpriced I thought, but who am I to argue)! So the lad is now a proud owner of a baggy, blue onesie.
The miles we walked around town surprised me, I know people always say 'I feel like I've walked miles' when they are out shopping, but they really do! 3.53 miles in the bank. Canny complain with that :)
Well, in order to reach my 2013 miles in 2013, I worked out I would need to walk an average of 5.51 miles every day for 365 days! That peeps, is alot of miles!!!
So to get my quota, as soon as we got back from the dreaded onesie shopping, I donned the trainers, waterproof coat (it was still raining), got the iPod on and walked some more.....
I'm really enjoying walking to Kelly Clarkson's 'Stronger'... proper feel good song which keeps me going.
Today's mileage = 6.87 miles ---- Only 2000.52 miles to go.....
My daughter and hubby are back home now, so time to cook tea and find out what their day has been like.
Ciao for now peeps :)

Happy New Year Peeps...
The sun is shining, the air is crisp... its a good day!
Last night, we brought in the New Year, chilling on the sofa with the family, eating Chinese takeaway and watching a good film. Its been a great Christmas and New Year with lots of quality family time, couldn't have asked for anything more.
Good nights sleep last night, so woke up bright and breezy ready to start a New Year; today is the start of a couple of challenges... January Dry-athlon - no alcohol, chocolate or cups of tea (this is my guilty pleasure more than the booze) for a whole month!!!
Also, the start of Moon Joggers 'going to the Moon'... 2013 miles in 2013...
Well, I got out there and did my daily quota.. 5.61 miles in the bank.. the sun was out, blue skies, fresh air... perfect conditions (although there is no such thing as perfect conditions)... the ground wasn't the best due to the horrific rainfall the UK has been experiencing lately.. nearly lost my trainers a couple of times but they lived to fight another day!
It's a good start to 2013, only 2007.39 miles to go with alot of crazy challenges thrown in..
Exciting times ahead!
Well peeps, the rest of the day will be spent with my beautiful family, enjoying the last of the quality time before reality kicks in and we all head back to work and school.
