Bring It On.....
Today is Challenge Day No 2; Wellingborough Multi-Terrain Round 1 - 10km!
Up and out at 7am; far too early for a Sunday morning, but no rest for the wicked! A1 was surprisingly quiet but the roads were good considering the weather. As I crossed the borders into Northampton, the snow started to come down... hard! This got me thinking.. 'what have I let myself in for'!
Irchester Country Park was the location of the event; in the Summer this would be a beautiful place to visit; not saying it didn't look pretty but in -1.5 temp conditions, it certainly made it a challenging event!
Off we set, alot of the runners were pure athletes, the size and speed of whippets; made me feel slightly inferior but certainly wasn't going to let it stop me! The ground was very treacherous, slippy in places and uneven.
They weren't lying when they said it was multi-terrain, lots of uphill and downhill, snake paths.. all this to contend with plus a blizzard coming down, freezing temps and dodgy underfooting! But I got it done....
Knee gave me jip all the way round, which made me put more pressure on foot so sore ankle to match! Knee is a bit swollen and sore now, so I think a few rest days may be required.
Can't believe we are at the end of Week 3 already; it will soon be February..
A total of 22.31 miles completed this week, happy with that considering all the rubbish weather we have been having.. that leaves 1938.97 miles to go..
Enjoy the rest of your weekend peeps.
Dani xx
